My Dog?

All dogs older than 6 months must be licensed in the town where the owner lives. Adopted dogs must be licensed within 10 days. 

To register a dog at the town office, you will need to provide proof of current rabies vaccination. Rabies certificates are kept on file  until expired. Proof of spay/neuter only need be seen once.

Annual fees per dog are spayed/neutered: $6; and not spayed/not neutered: $11. A $25 late fee (imposed by the state of Maine) applies for dogs registered after Jan. 31. Dog licenses are available around the middle of October for the upcoming year.

If you can't make it to the town office, you can re-register your dog online. You will need proof of current rabies vaccination, veterinarian name and phone number, license/tag number, spay/neuter certificate if applicable, and a credit/debit card. Fees for online registration are $7/$12.

There will be a FREE rabies clinic on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. at VFW 34, Field Street, Belfast. you must bring previous rabies certificate to get a 3-year vaccine.
