If you have purchased a new boat, please bring a bill of sale that includes the boat make/model, VIN, date of sale and both the seller and buyer names and addresses. If you purchase from a dealer, also bring proof that sales tax was paid. If a private sale, you will pay the sales tax at the time of registration. Excise taxes vary according to size of boat, size of motor and age of boat.

When re-registering a boat in person at the town office, it is helpful if you have your previous registration or permanent boat number with you.

• Registrant information
• Boat information, including serial number or registration number
• Credit/debit card (MasterCard, Visa & Discover)
• A printer, if you wish to print a copy of your temporary registration
